Opt-outs in AgentNode are automatic and permanent. The moment a lead replies with an opt-out keyword, AgentNode removes them from all messaging immediately — no delay, no manual step required on your end. You don’t need to manage a suppression list yourself; AgentNode tracks opt-out status across your entire account and enforces it everywhere.

How opt-outs work

1

Lead sends an opt-out keyword

The lead replies with STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT.
2

AgentNode registers the opt-out immediately

The opt-out is recorded the moment the reply is received — no delay, no manual step required on your end.
3

The contact is flagged account-wide

Their opt-out status applies across your entire account, not just the campaign they replied to.
4

All future messaging is blocked

No campaign — current or future — can pick them up or send them a message. No manual outreach to that number is possible through AgentNode.
This process happens in real time and requires no action from you.

Where opted-out contacts appear

Opted-out contacts remain visible in your Contacts list. They are clearly marked so you can see their status at a glance. Their full conversation history is preserved and accessible — you can review past messages any time. The only thing you cannot do is send them a new message through AgentNode.

Why this matters

SMS opt-out compliance is a legal requirement under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). Failing to honour a STOP request — or attempting to contact that person again without documented renewed consent — can result in significant fines and legal exposure. AgentNode handles opt-outs automatically so you’re protected without needing to track them manually, but understanding how the system works helps you stay compliant at every stage.
Never attempt to contact an opted-out lead through another number or channel to circumvent the opt-out. This violates federal messaging laws and AgentNode’s Terms of Service.
Opt-out protection starts before a single message is sent. When you import a CSV, you confirm that every contact in that file is someone you have a legitimate prior business relationship with, or who has given consent to be contacted. Only import contacts who meet that standard — AgentNode’s compliance tools work best when your list is clean going in. If a contact has already told you they don’t want to hear from you — through any channel — don’t import them. Opt-out records outside AgentNode don’t automatically sync into the platform.
Review your import list before uploading. AgentNode deduplicates rows, but it’s good practice to remove known opt-outs from your CSV before importing.
